Here at Gestüt Eichenhain horsemanship is not just a word. Every day we try to make the life for our horses as „horselike“ as possible., with big sky lit stables, large stalls and individual windows for fresh air and a natural atmosphere In addition to their work under the saddle or at the lunge, the riding horses daily walk in the horse walker. While the walker provides the horses with light exercise and time out of their stables it also serves the function by giving the horses a long pre-ride warm up or relaxing after work cool down. As long as the weather it allows even the stallions and the older riding horses can relax regularly outside on paddocks where they can enjoy fresh grass and the sunlight. The daily training the Gestüt Eichenhain horses can take place in canopied horse walker, two indoor sand rings, outside sand ring, outside gras ring or the race track. The young horses and the brood mares stay the whole summer on big gras fields very close to the Weser river. In the winter the young horses stay in groups in big stables where they are free to go in and out. The brood mares are already in their foaling stables. The young horses and brood mares get daily turnout as the youngsters are gradualy assimilated into the work program. The feeding at the Gestüt Eichenhain accomidates the natural needs of the horses. Because horses have a very little stomach they need as many little meals as possible. Our riding horses get three meals of hay or silage and three meals of grain and a late „nightmeal“. In the big pens we offer roughhage permanently. In cooperation with surrounding farmers and feed companies we provide feed of the best quality.
